Daniel Young of Southlake, a sophomore at Lyon College in Arkansas, has been named to the 2008 TranSouth All Conference Second Team as a midfielder.

The TranSouth Athletic Conference is made up of teams from Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky that are members of the National Association of Interscholastic Athletics. The Lyon men’s soccer team, the Scots, made it to the semifinals this year in the TSC, and finished with a 10-9 record.

Earlier this week Young was named as a TranSouth Scholar Athlete.

To qualify, varsity players who are sophomores, juniors and seniors must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Young, 19, spent his early years in Grapevine. He graduated from The North Hills School in Irving in 2007. He played club soccer on the Tejanos Blue Premier 90 Boys team, coached by Shane Barrow.

Lyon College is located in Batesville, Ark., and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
