A softball game to raise money for ovarian cancer research will be held in honor of Roni Lemos, a Grapevine resident and mother who died in September from ovarian cancer.
Heritage Middle School recently completed its annual Canned Food Drive. The competition lasted two and a half weeks and ended shortly before Thanksgiving. Students were encouraged to bring canned or packaged, non-refrigerated foods to school so that it could be donated to needy families.
The Grapevine-Colleyville school board is hoping the Texas Legislature takes action on school finance in its upcoming session. Otherwise, officials said GCISD will probably have a tight budget for the next school year.

The Grapevine City Council discussed a plan to sell $14 million in bank-qualified bonds to pay for new headquarters for the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau, police and fire vehicles, and possibly campground improvements.
The Colleyville City Council once again was unhappy with what it heard regarding the Texas 26 project at Tuesday’s council workshop.
Much of the $13 million Oak Grove Park improvements have been completed, and the total project will be completed in April, Grapevine officials said.

On Nov. 18, the Grapevine City Council approved the proposed Riverwoods development at 3735 E. Ira E. Woods Ave. (TX 26) with two to three office buildings, possibly a restaurant and the 87-bed Dancing River Assisted Living facility .
