Volunteer Opportunities
The following is a partial list of social clubs and nonprofit organizations in the Colleyville, Grapevine and Southlake area. Many of these organizations suspend meetings during the summer, but continue other activities. Check Web sites or call for more information.
ALTRUSA DFW: Community Service Organization that meets the second Tuesday evening of the month at Timarron Country Club from 6:30 to 9 p.m. For membership details, see www.AltrusaDFW.com.
APEX ARTS LEAGUE: A nonprofit organization dedicated to actively advancing art, artists and art education while promoting the concept of a regional arts center. For details, see www.apexartsleague.org.
CALL A RIDE SOUTHLAKE, or CARS, is a volunteer-led service providing seniors and people with disabilities the means to keep their independence by offering free, nonemergency transportation for medical and personal errands. For details about volunteering, call 817-798-4022.
CARROLL EDUCATION FOUNDATION: An organization whose mission is to enhance and enrich the educational learning experience within the Carroll School District. For details, see www.southlakecef.org.
CLEANING FOR A REASON FOUNDATION: A nonprofit organization offering free professional housecleaning services to improve the lives of those undergoing treatment for cancer. To volunteer time or donate, see www.cleaningforareason.org.
COLLEYVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: To promote the economic, civic and cultural well-being of the Colleyville area. Board meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas Baptist University, 5611 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville. COLLEYVILLE GARDEN CLUB: To aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources, to promote civic beautification and encourage the improvement of roadsides and parks. GRAPEVINE-COLLEYVILLE-SOUTHLAKE MOM’S LEAGUE, or GCSML: Bringing together moms and children in the areas for more than 10 years. Meets the first Friday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and childcare is available. See www.gcsmomsleague.org.

PERENNIAL GARDEN SOCIETY: A Southlake organization utilizing guest speakers for information on a variety of gardening topics with primary emphasis on native and adapted perennials. SOUTHLAKE COMMUNITY BAND: A volunteer group composed of more than 75 adult amateur musicians. The band plays for numerous community events each year in Southlake and surrounding cities. New members are always welcome, and auditions are not required. Rehearsals are every Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Dawson Middle School, 400 S.
